HealthFlex Offers a Helping Hand During Reappointment Season

If you’ve recently been appointed to a new church, feelings of excitement can be overshadowed by the challenges of moving. You may be looking for new childcare options nearby, a trustworthy appliance service or car repair, even social opportunities for your family. Work/Life Services available through the HealthFlex Employee Assistance Program (via Optum) is available to help with many of the daily to-dos and unexpected needs that come up when adjusting to a new community.

“When you call Work/Life Services, we’ll help you and your family navigate life’s challenges,” shared Stephanie L. Muir, senior client service manager at Optum. “Whether you’re going through something big like a move or just need help finding the right resource in your community, we’re here to make your to-do list a little easier to manage so you can get the most out of life.”

From finding a good summer camp for your child to a local plumber when you need one, Work/Life services can help with many of the daily to-dos and unexpected needs that come up when adjusting to a new community.

There’s no limit on the number of times you—or anyone in your household, including your partner or children—can contact Work/Life Services, and the range of support is extensive. Services include:

  • Child and family support, including emergency/sick-child care, adoption resources and parent/family support groups
  • Adult care and eldercare support, including adult daycare programs and in-home/nurse care options
  • Chronic illness and condition support, including respite services, affordable-housing resources, and meal and transportation resources
  • Home services, including pet care, car and home repair, legal and financial services and social recommendations
  • Educational resources, including adult education classes, school and college recommendations and individual educational plans
