After a career at Wespath Benefits and Investments (Wespath) spanning more than 37 years, Eileen Kane, Chief Financial and Strategy Officer, has announced her intention to retire from the agency later this year. Ms. Kane will continue to serve in her role while Wespath undertakes a comprehensive search for her successor, which is being supported by an executive search firm. Pending a successful executive search in the second quarter of 2025, Ms. Kane will work closely with the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), for a transition period, to ensure a seamless transfer of knowledge, relationships and responsibilities.
Andrew Hendren, Wespath General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer said, “Wespath would not be the agency it is today without Eileen’s strategic guidance and visionary leadership, which navigated Wespath through significant industry, denominational and organizational transformations and growth. Eileen’s dedication to excellence and her ability to inspire those around her have made her an invaluable part of our team. I am so grateful for her trusted, steady leadership and exceptional financial stewardship.”
Throughout her tenure, Ms. Kane led Wespath’s benefits administration transformation and strategic governance for the organization’s broader business plan, while overseeing the accounting and finance division. Her efforts to integrate finance and accounting with project planning, analytics, and information technology have been instrumental in Wespath’s strategic growth during a time of transition for The United Methodist Church (UMC).
“Working at Wespath has been an incredible blessing,” said Ms. Kane. “Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with incredible individuals who deeply care about Wespath’s mission. Witnessing our assets under management grow from under $3 billion to $26 billion has been profoundly rewarding, as it has created opportunities to serve the denomination, our participants, plan sponsors and institutional investors in impactful ways. As I prepare to retire, I have absolute confidence in Wespath’s leadership and their ability to guide the organization into a future of continued strength and meaningful service.”
Ms. Kane, who began her journey with Wespath in 1987 as a staff accountant, moved through the ranks, driven by her commitment and dedication to the Wespath team and its mission. She has been a pivotal figure in the organization, serving the UMC with dedication and excellence. Ms. Kane has held numerous roles at Wespath, including Chief Financial and Information Officer, Chief Information and Analytics Officer, managing director of Information and Project Services, controller, special assistant to the General Secretary, director of Business Systems Administration, and managing director of the Enterprise Project Management Office. Her leadership has been a cornerstone of the organization’s success.
